:: DJ Lissa Monet presents: BAD GIRLS - #MonetMix
I honestly made this mix for my grandmother. When I was super young, I would play these records in this mix on my grandma's record player on the weekends while pretending to be a radio DJ for some make believe radio station.
The disco era seemed like a very magical time then as it still does today.
A time to experiment, express and embellish.
When I play these records, I imagine my grandmother or even my mom playing these exact songs as they get ready to head out to the discotheque in the baddest outfits.
I wonder if Donna Summer was to them what SZA is to us today.
I wonder what boy broke their hearts as they sang songs like "Don't Leave Me This Way" by Thelma Houston at the top of their lungs.
Disco music may have come to a screeching halt in the early 80s, but you can't deny its musical magic.
