Last night I had the pleasure of spinning alongside 15-year-old female DJ Taylor Rae last night at JerkxJollof in Accra, Ghana during Detty December 2021.

Which made me think about how far we’ve come as female DJs. 18+ years ago, when I decided to pursue DJing as a profession, there weren’t a lot of us out there - especially with the support systems we have now.

I love watching young female DJs who spin because they love the music, and it shows. It’s so easy to get caught up in the gimmicks of DJing, but as long as your intentions are pure, it’s a profession that will bring you joy for as long as you pursue it.
