The rough tone that Rihanna uses in this track relays a malevolent attitude that sets a path for revenge. With a game plan in mind and a “Gangster 4 Life” demeanour, she sends a strong message that her new mind-set is the driving force behind the rebellious actions illustrated in her song.

The bittersweet approach to love and life is her way of communicating to her listeners that no matter how hard you fall, you should dust yourself off and keep it movin’. A lesson that she has learned all too well.

produced by chase and status, the track is as rough as the lyrics. rihanna rides the music with the tenacity of a rapper. i wonder who helped her with her sped up flow? maybe a shawn carter who used to master that flow back in like 2002…i dunno . either way, rihanna’s attitude on this track is NASTY and i love it. it gets kinda boring (maybe its the tempo) but is definitely a song the girls can sing in the car on the way to the cluuuuuub.
