this industry is NO joke. neither are old, slow, and outdated computers. sometimes i have to work with one or the other but on those days when i have to work with both simultaneously, i end up screaming and shaking a computer screen that doesn’t yell back and gain a massive instant headache at the way some ‘professionals’ conduct their business.
not good for ones cholesterol right?
so ive developed some techniques for relieving stress on those days when my heart rate is lethally rapid while sitting completely still.
hope this helps those who experience the same plight
1. i drink black or chamomile tea
preferably in the morning to start the day off right this is usually before i turn on the blackberry or open an email. i drink black tea for my insides and chamommile to pre-calm my nerves for whats in store lol
2. i swear profusely
this usually happens when im alone. my laptop and i have somewhat of a one-sided conversation where i yell sweet expletives at it in hopes that it understands my pain. surprisingly enough, i feel better after the cuss-fest but i often feel guilty for using such foul language at a machine that basically helps me make money.
3. i inflict pain on myself
i read in a fitness magazine once that if you apply pressure to that fleshy area between your thumb and first finger, that it is an effective tension releaser and actually releases tension up to 39%. i think i squeeze too hard because i then think about how much worse my ‘problem of the day’ could be and i move on to the next.
4. i keep a stash of hershey’s kisses or lindor chocolates under my bed
not only are they great little pellets to throw at the computer screen, but they are a great distraction of chocolatey amazingness that just makes me effing happy.
5. i watch videos by bangs, andy milonakis, and rehdogg
those vids freakin make me laugh every single time. no explanation needed.
6. i EAT!
healthy of course. i find that walking away from the computer and making a tuna fish sandwich, a 2p omelet or eating a veggie burger works…its also a great way to get a nap in during the day to refuel and gain some energy to shake the computer screen with even more force than i did in the morning.
id like to think these steps allow me to handle stress well and keep me one step away from a therapist.
glad i could be of service,
