I had the pleasure of being flown out to ATL to witness and be apart of history.
I’m still a little groggy from the whole weekend, being in Atlanta for two days wasnt really enough for me to work, reunite with friends and be a first time visitor.
It was so go go go that I lost my camera *heavy bawling*
However my homegirl Janee Bolden was kind enough to send me blog links with pictures and videos of that night.
It was definitely something to witness. I remember Niko saying to me, “Lissa, I’m glad you are here to witness what we have been experiencing for the past month, my life has changed drastically.”
What I love and respect about Aubrey – yeah I’m calling you by your first – is that he never forgets his people. Future is his road DJ, D10 is his keyboardist, 40 is is sound engineer, Niko kept shit together and is just there for him on the road, Boi1da was out there working with Polow The Don. Melanie Fiona, Tha Bizness and Trey Songz came out to support. But most importantly, he never forgot his city.
When he found out I was coming there to open the show, it was just surrealness to the max. Nothing changed. It was just kisses and hugs and “I cant believe your heres”
I had a chance to touch base with Melanie Fiona – what a positive ball of energy, she too had to hold back tears as we talked about our earlier experience with Drake and how we both knew he would totally be at this point in his career. We talked about Toronto and its potential and how now we have to step our game up because the spotlight is on us. For how long? We dont know, but we just have to keep reppin to keep it there.
