im not impressed.

I must admit, this past weekend (August 12-14) has been interesting-yet-eye opening for the urban community in Toronto. First of all, I want to congratulate and thank Mark Ecko & Little X for a (somewhat) successful Getting Up Festival. I must admit, this past weekend (August 12-14) has been interesting-yet-eye opening for the urban community in Toronto.

First of all, I want to congratulate and thank Mark Ecko & Little X for a (somewhat) successful Getting Up Festival. I missed Saturday, but Sunday was a great show with Kardi, my girl Jully Black, Lil Jon, Kanye “I forgot my lines” West and Ludacris tearing up the stage. I’m also very happy it went with out any incident – lord knows Toronto didn’t need another shooting especially at an event like that (Three shootings have occured since the Sunday…Toronto is a battlefield right now).

So, Kanye West forgot his lines and then left his own afterparty…yeah, I said it, the international asshole left his OWN party and walked literally across the street to another afterparty hosted by Little X and Mark Ecko.

A very close inside source (ha! I feel like I should be writing for the New York Post gossip column) told me that Kanye had arrived to the club (Metro Nightclub) but no one had either noticed or was notified about his arrival, causing Kanye to get on the mic, raise a stink and announce that he was leaving the club to go to the Little X party (which I heard didnt do so well) because he had “never been so disrespected…” and that he “was in the club for 45 minutes, and the DJ hadn’t played a single Kanye West track yet….”

Negro please, I never felt so disrespected when you were on stage at the Getting Up festival a couple hours earlier and I was yelling out the words to your songs FOR YOU!!! Then after, Kanye had the nerve to turn around and tell the audience that he doesn’t do bullshit music. But it sure was a bullshit performance Kanye. I’ll tell him that to his face because I’m a true Kanye West fan, and a person who has too many “yes men” in his camp will forget the true meaning of the word “yes” and have no concept of the word “no”. Which brings me to the next Kanye West incident…..

Anyway, Kanye clearly was not enjoying his stay in Toronto as his interview on FLOW 93.5 started downhill and went even further down the drain.

Everyone who knows Kanye West knows he is very passionate about his music and when it comes to this, expects a certain standard. Toronto’s ONLY urban music station decided to censor a rhyme in Kanye’s single “Golddigger” which was in reference to something about a “white girl”. So Kanye called FLOW on it, brought it to FLOW’s attention and FLOW host Hollywood Rich Fagon in turn decided not to defend himself and the radio station, but patronize Kanye by asking him to freestyle to get whatever he had “off his chest.”

And to make matters worse, FLOW’s program director was in the room co-conducting the interview with Hollywood Rich and did not say a word. Even when Kanye was like, “I wanna let the Program Director know….” Homefry should have stepped up and explained about the rules and regulations in regards to what is allowed to be aired by LAW, instead of running to Kanye after the interview at his in-store signing at HMV to then explain the situation. That’s a punk move right there. I’m sorry, im my humble opinion you get a womp womp for that one.

Watch the video and form your own thoughts:

FLOW has never really had a good track record when it comes to conducting interviews with international stars. FLOW’s July 29th interview with Jay-Z, Tiearra Mari, Rhianna & Kanye West was a bunch of kaka (I have been using that word a lot lately…thanks Dr.Jay). The interview was conducted AGAIN by FLOW’s Program Director and was full of repetitive questions and star struck comments that should have come right out of a groupie’s mouth – How many times throughout the course of the interview do I have to hear “The ROC is in the building?” Not a sensible question was asked….No questions were asked about Dame Dash, about who helped produce Tiearra Marie and Rhianna’s album, what we expect to see from Common and John Legend and those are just basic interview questions…it was just pure tom foolery.

And to make matters worse, the mics weren’t working properly.

Ahhhhh….I think thats what we can sum that whole weekend as…TOM FOOLERY.

Toronto, step your game up when it comes to dealing with “Celebrities”…. Especially international assholes like Kanye West.
